Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a Brewpub, Microbrewery,
and a Regional Brewery?
The rule
of thumb on brewery distinctions is as follows:
Brewpub - Production is limited, under 15,000
bbl/year and over 50% of the beer is sold on premises,
generally in an attached restaurant.
Microbrewery - Production is also under 15,000
bbl/year, but most sales are off-site via bottling or
kegging.
Regional Brewery - Production ranges from
15,000-1,000,000 bbl/year, with distribution into several
different states.
